privacy-policy
Last updated: June 2026
This privacy and cookie policy explains how Health is a Choice (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects your personal information, and how we use cookies, when you visit healthisachoice.org or place an order with us. We are the data controller for the information you provide. We are committed to handling your data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Health is a Choice (healthisachoice.org).
Email: info@healthisachoice.org
The information we collect
When you place an order or contact us, we may collect:
- Your name
- Delivery and billing address
- Email address and telephone number
- Order details and history
- Messages you send us
We do not see or store your full card details. All card payments are processed securely by Square. You can read Square’s privacy policy on their website.
How we use your information
- To process and deliver your order
- To send order confirmations and delivery updates
- To respond to your enquiries
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations
- To send marketing emails, only where you have asked us to
Our lawful bases
We rely on: performance of a contract (to fulfil your order); legal obligation (for tax and accounting records); legitimate interests (to run and improve our shop and respond to enquiries); and consent (for any marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time).
Who we share it with
We share information only as needed to run the shop:
- Square — to process payments
- Royal Mail — to deliver your order
- Our website host and email provider — to operate the site and send order emails
We never sell your personal information to anyone.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work in much the same way. We keep our use of them to a minimum:
- Essential storage — to remember the items in your basket as you browse and during checkout. Without this, the shop cannot work.
- Payment and security — Square may set cookies needed to process your payment securely.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we add analytics in future, we will update this page and ask for your consent where required. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, but blocking essential storage may stop the basket and checkout from working properly.
How long we keep your information
We keep order and transaction records for as long as required by law (generally six years for tax purposes). Enquiry messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your query.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@healthisachoice.org.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always appear on this page.
